Beneath the concrete slab, our Ekomer houses use; instead of the traditional polystyrene frigolite; glass, which has been recycled and crushed. A special process where the crushed glass is fluffed into a soft material, which then olidfies. This material prevents damp and frost penetrating from underneath. The concrete slab is tight and warm. The porous glass is extremely light and easy to work with. The glass material is easy to form without it "running", as eg Leca balls and similar guaged gravels. The material guage is 10-60mm, self load is 180-240kg/m3. The material is chemically and thermetically stable and doesn't act as the traditional polystyrene frigolite by pulling to one side and retaining huge volumes of water. |
